Once again out to north of Rangiora to Stu (I'm over it) Carter's for the event on a superb sunny days weather. The course was all set up on Saturday ready to go. 15 competitors, including two nearly eighty year olds, the lower numbers put down to being Mothers Day.
A bit of delay to the start time as the computer comms not complying with the operators instruction, all sorted and away we go. Allan Coker has been very generous in lending his Yaris GR to Doug Good to drive, who couldn't drive as fast as he thought he could, thinking he could finish in the top five but ended up in the bottom five.
No dramas on run one with Adrian Harris in the Moke fastest with Alan Groves in the Charade only 0.66 seconds back and Scott Clark, Impreza, a further 1.41 sec behind.
Course two is the same as course one but run in the reverse direction with some of the tighter parts opened up to have faster times for everyone. Adrian is over three seconds faster than Alan, but young Ryan Denize, Honda Fit, clocks the third fastest time, well done. The only cone hit all day was by Ross Melhop, March 1000cc, trying to keep up with Dwight who is beating the car owner by several seconds. So ends course two and there is enough time for a lunch break as Stu arrives with tea and coffee and sandwiches for the hard working timekeeper and helpers, thanks mate.
Course three is back to the direction of course one but with more cones moved to make for a faster course, this suiting the 4WD's as Adrian is still unbeatable, with Mark Higgins, Evo 4, second fastest and Scott Clark third. Overall the placings for the first six are unchanged from course one. A very early finish with the small field and most heading home, being advised by the CoC to pick up a bunch of flowers and a box of chocolates on the way home.
We need to find another paddock as Stu says the sheep are complaining of no grass to eat and even less after the autocross.
